Idol contestant Naima Adedapo's former high school is brimming with pride
News

Milwaukee's own Naima Adedapo is among the top 11 contestants on American Idol. FOX6 takes a trip Naima's high school St. Joan Antida, where she's quickly becoming a legend.

Naima Adedapo graduated from the all-girls catholic school St. Joan Antida High School in 2003. Sister Monica Fumo was Adedapo's former principal, and watched her grow up into that "exotic flower" idol enthusiasts know.

Sister Fumo says Naima's stage presence is just as bright as it was years ago. "I remember her as being, how can I say this, just as light on the stage. Even there were other people up there, there was something just the performer or the person who drew your eye."

Like a proud parent, the folks at St. Joan's can't get enough of Naima. There isn't a hallway or a yearbook that doesn't show the all out talent Naima possesses.

St. Joan's Music Teacher Lincoln Russell sang with Naima in gospel choir growing up. Now, he's using his famous friend to motivate students. "Naima has set the path, and they want to follow in that path...This woman is something. She is phenomenal. She dances. She does so much that it's an inspiration to me and I'm excited for her."

No matter the outcome of Naima's trip to American Idol, she'll always be the pride of St. Joan's.
