FOX6 Partners with new Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service

The Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service (NNS), a new online source for objective, professional reporting in central city communities, is partnering with FOX6 Blocks to help tell the story of revitalization efforts in these neighborhoods. Initially, NNS will cover Lindsay Heights and Clarke Square.

The news service will assess progress toward achieving the communities’ goals in areas such as education, public safety, economic development, health and wellness, recreation, employment, youth development, housing and neighborhood beautification.

The NNS website also will include interactive community sites, which will provide neighborhood residents information on events and activities in their communities and offer a forum to comment on local issues.

The Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service traces its origins to the Zilber Neighborhood Initiative. NNS is a project of the United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee. It is supported in part by the Zilber Family Foundation, with in-kind contributions from United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee and Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University.

The NNS website is expected to launch in March 2011.
